Guest Review: Vulcan (Challenged by Love #3) by Autumn Montague

Nicholas Beauregard has spent his life trying to prove that his game leg and short stature will never stand in his way. Even so, his determination has done nothing to satisfy his most secret desire. When chance sends him an invitation to the notorious Twelfth Night Revel thrown by Viscount Colvin, Nicholas accepts. Though he’s never met the man, he’s heard rumors of the viscount’s debauched masquerades. Such a bawdy event should provide an eyeful of male anatomy to ogle, and perhaps, the right man. Someone with the power to accept his submission.

Viscount Sebastian Colvin is looking forward to this year’s revel, which promises to be filled with good company, self-indulgent pleasure, and a diversion from his father’s insistence that he marry. Scandalously clad as the god Apollo, Sebastian hopes this year’s revel will also bring him someone worthy of his darkest longing. Someone who is strong enough to accept his control.

Two secrets. Two powerful desires. And one chance to form a match made by the gods.

Reviewer: Shee Reader

This is a period book, which isn’t my usual preference, but this one was nicely written, engaging and drew me in from the start. I really enjoyed it!

Sebastian in well known in certain circles for his debauched parties and perverse desires. His father the Earl of Colvin is repeatedly delivering women to his son in the hopes Sebastian will change his ways, marry and provide an heir. Knowing of his son’s preferences, the Earl sends willowy, boyish females. Sebastian despairs until one special lady, Arabella, who really wants the Earl not the Viscount, and has a couple of men Sebastian may be interested in, one of whom is her brother!

With the pressing need for an heir from him removed, Sebastian can focus on the upcoming party on Twelfth Night, and inviting the most interesting selection of men.

Enter Nicholas, an upright and strong willed gentleman (and also Arabella’s cousin) who’s darkest desire is to submit. With his game leg an embarrassment, he loses hope that he will ever find a man who truly wants to dominate him.

As luck would have it in romance-landia, Nicholas is just exactly what Sebastian is looking for. Cue spectacular sex, domination and submission and a misunderstanding. Finish off with a light dusting of instal-love and the story gives us just what we, the readers need.

The writing is engaging, and the time period easy to sink into. This book was a nice little enjoyable romp!

I was given a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
