Blog Tour & Giveaway: Exchange of Hearts by NR Walker

N.R. Walker is here to talk about her newest release, Exchange of Hearts. Lemme tell you... it's full of The Cuteness. Full. Made me grin like an idiot. And guess what? We have an exclusive excerpt and a giveaway!

Eighteen-year-old Harrison Haddon has grown up alone. Surrounded by wealth, nannies, and material things, all he craves is the approval of his father. Sent away to the boarding school his father and grandfather attended, it’s assumed he will follow in their footsteps from Sydney’s prestigious Ivy League school straight into medical school.

But Harrison doesn’t want to be a doctor.

He dreams of music and classical piano. His only true happiness, his escape from the world expected of him, is dismissed by his intolerant and emotionally detached parents.

Levi Aston arrives from London for a three-month student exchange program. Free-spirited and confident in who he is and what he wants to do with his life, Levi convinces Harrison not give up on his dreams.

But convincing Harrison not to give up on his family might not be so easy.

Excerpt:
I thought I might as well ask him the dreaded question—to determine which group of friends he’d fit in best with. “So, do you um, play any sport?”

He gave a shrug. “Nah. Played a bit of cricket, but just for fun. Not really my thing.”

It was ridiculous how relieved I was. I was waiting for the word ‘rugby’ to come out of his mouth and for him to ask where the fields were and for him to be someone else I had to avoid, but it didn’t happen. I bit my lip so I wouldn’t smile and looked at my watch instead. “We better get back to the office.”

As we headed back to the admin block, we were both more comfortable with each other. I pointed buildings out, told him what the food was like and which teachers to stay on the good side of, and we were both smiling as we walked into the administration office.

Father Collin met us at the door. He was an older priest, a big man who I’d always liked. After welcoming Levi to the school and country, he explained he’d organized uniforms, and when the older man handed the pile of grey and navy over, Levi looked at me and grimaced.

I laughed, and Father Collin asked, “Aren’t you supposed to be in class, Mr Haddon?”

“I was given the day leave, Father,” I explained. “As he’ll be my roommate, I’m to show the new student around, get uniforms and timetables.”

“Ah,” he said, distracted. “Timetables.” He picked up some papers and handed one to Levi. Then Father Collin said, “Mmm, looks like you two have some classes together.” He looked at Levi. “Yes, Harrison will be more than helpful.”

Levi smiled and glanced at me. “I’m sure he will.”

Other students came into the office behind us, and Levi and I moved to one side to collect his things. He whispered, “Are all the teachers here priests?”

I laughed. “Most of them.”

Levi groaned. “Oh, God.”

“We only say that at mass on Sundays,” I joked, and Levi laughed.

As we turned to walk out of the office, I almost, literally, ran into Carson.

Fuck.

He looked from me to Levi. “So, you’re the new exchange student?” he asked with a fake smile.
Levi introduced himself and I stepped back as they made small talk. Levi glanced at me and I pretended to be listening to what Father Collin was saying to someone else, but I knew Levi saw how uncomfortable I was near Carson.

I wished I wasn’t. I wished I could look him in the eye, and I wished I could say hurtful things back to him. I wish I had the guts to hurt him like he hurt me.

“Can I help you, Mr Sinclair?” Father Collin called out. Carson told Levi he’d see him around school.

Levi smiled politely. “Sure.”

I held the door for him again, and we walked back to our room in an uncomfortable silence. When we were inside, he put his pile of uniforms on his bed and turned to face me. “What’s up with that Carson guy?”

I shrugged. “What do you mean?”

He smiled but asked me quietly, “Does he pick on you?”

I shrugged again. “A little.”

“I saw how you shrunk back from him. Wanna tell me why?”

“It’s a long story.”

About N.R. Walker:
N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance.
She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn't have it any other way.

She is many things; a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don't let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words.

She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things...but likes it even more when they fall in love.

She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.

She's been writing ever since...
